Supporting 14+ Team
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is pleased to offer a Principal Social Work position within our newly reconfigured Supporting 14+ Team.
Join us as we enter an exciting phase of service transformation.
About the Role
This non case holding role will provide practical and emotional support and guidance to young people, parents and carers. This will include both planned interventions, and timely responses to those in crisis. The principal social worker working within the supporting 14+ team will be directly responsible to the consultant social worker and will be expected to undertake interventions deemed more complex, as well as provide advice and supervision to team members.
The role of the principal social worker will be to support young people to remain living within their families, providing tailored interventions to help support change, and maintain healthy relationships. They will also work with care experienced young people and their carers, supporting placement stability and preventing placements from breaking down. The successful candidate will also take on a mentoring role where required with practitioners within the team, as well as a commitment to their own professional development.
Our 14+ teams provide specialised support to young people aged 14-25 who are looked after, living at home with family, experiencing homelessness or care leavers, empowering them to develop sustainable life skills and independence. We also work with Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC) ensuring they receive the support, guidance, and safeguarding that is tailored to their needs.
Our goal is to deliver a service that improves the opportunities and outcomes for teenagers and care experienced young people as a priority, providing a more stable experience throughout their journey on to independence. Transition planning into adulthood is a key focus of our work, we work with partner agencies to ensure that young people exit care at the right time for them, with the most appropriate support and accommodation available to them.
