A post has arisen for a flexible and enthusiastic teacher, within Ty Gwyn Education Centre, based at the Tuition Service in Ty Castan, Pontypridd.
Ty Gwyn Education Centre oversees the provision of individual and group tuition services to those learners in RCT who are not able to attend school for a range of reasons. Ty Gwyn also has a purpose built site in Aberdare for up to 64 learners.
Ty Gwyn Education Centre offers specialist provision for up to 60 learners with behavioural, emotional and social needs that cannot be met in their mainstream school. Learners are a mixture of full and part time and access a broad and balanced curriculum of core subjects (English, Maths and Science) and a range of vocational and foundation subjects. There is a growing emphasis on developing learner wellbeing and mental health and Ty Gwyn/Ty Castan are trauma informed settings with strong mental health and wellbeing support for learners placed there.
As a teacher of pupils and TLR post holder, potentially of any age range, you will be responsible for planning, resourcing and delivering personalised learning in one of the core or (former) foundation subjects to any learner in our setting. You will be leading the development of learners’ skills in literacy, numeracy and related interventions and supporting the implementation and development of the new CfW, as well as preparing learners for the GCSE examination series. You will also have responsibility for a form group and their welfare and wellbeing and for the safety and security of the pupils and site in the absence of the Head of Alternative Learning.
